NEA Big Read Film & Media Camp - LAST CHANCE!

It’s your last chance to sign up for the Free All-Ages Film & Media Camp starting next week! Join us in learning the skills to create a once in a lifetime project!

As part of Raton’s NEA Big Read, this two-week immersive Film & Media Camp invites youth and adults to create inspirational visual stories inspired by the themes of Fuzz: When Nature Breaks the Law.

Hosted by local media education nonprofit El Raton Media Works (ERMW), this hands-on camp blends literary inspiration with cinematic creativity. Participants will explore how stories move from page to screen.

Celebrating 5 Years of Film Prize Jr New Mexico in Raton!

It’s hard to believe it has already been five incredible years of empowering Colfax County youth to bring their stories to the big screen! Through our Film Prize Jr. New Mexico mentorship program, we’ve had the immense privilege of guiding local middle and high school students through every step of the filmmaking process, from initial script development to hands-on production and the final post-production edit.

Watching our students’ ideas evolve into amazing shorts like I Love You. Always., Demons and Angels, and Time Kids has been an absolute joy. But taking these visions from a simple notebook concept to a scholarship-competing film festival screening takes a true village.

A massive, heartfelt thank you goes out to Ann Theis, Jose Lopez, Will Elder, Beki Woods, Matthew Bacher, Zabe Holloway, and all the incredible actors, parents, volunteer professionals, and organizations that make it possible. By providing time, equipment, and expertise, they’ve given our local students the support and confidence they need to succeed. Here’s to celebrating the magic you've all helped create over the last five years, and to many more years of youth storytelling in Raton!

Sign up and help bring film & media to Raton.
