It’s hard to believe it has already been five incredible years of empowering Colfax County youth to bring their stories to the big screen! Through our Film Prize Jr. New Mexico mentorship program, we’ve had the immense privilege of guiding local middle and high school students through every step of the filmmaking process, from initial script development to hands-on production and the final post-production edit. Watching our students’ ideas evolve into amazing shorts like I Love You. Always., Demons and Angels, and Time Kids has been an absolute joy. But taking these visions from a simple notebook concept to a scholarship-competing film festival screening takes a true village. A massive, heartfelt thank you goes out to Ann Theis, Jose Lopez, Will Elder, Beki Woods, Matthew Bacher, Zabe Holloway, and all the incredible actors, parents, volunteer professionals, and organizations that make it possible. By providing time, equipment, and expertise, they’ve given our local students the support and confidence they need to succeed. Here’s to celebrating the magic you've all helped create over the last five years, and to many more years of youth storytelling in Raton!
