The Chaperones has come and gone—and we’re proud that Raton and Colfax County were part of bringing this production to life. Welcoming a film to a rural community takes planning, coordination, and a lot of local problem-solving. That’s why the work of a Film Liaison is so important: building relationships, helping productions find the right locations and services, and supporting crews before they arrive and throughout the shoot. Over the course of just one week, The Chaperones delivered real economic activity across the region. The production generated hotel stays, location bookings, fuel purchases, and meals at local businesses—while also hiring local background actors and bringing on production assistants. This kind of activity is exactly what El Raton Media Works set out to help grow from the start, and we’re committed to continuing to attract productions to our area. To keep building momentum, our region needs the workforce and facilities that make filming here easier and more cost-effective. Every crew member a production has to bring in from a metro area can increase expenses for lodging, per diem, transportation, and overtime. The more we can supply trained local crew and production-ready resources, the more we help productions take full advantage of New Mexico’s rural incentive opportunities—and overcome the practical hurdle of being about a three-hour drive from Albuquerque.
