An Evening of Out-of-This-World Fun
What a night! The "Aliens, Sharks, & Rock 'n' Roll" Movie Night on Saturday, July 5th, 2025, at Kearny Playground was an absolute blast. It kicked off with a killer performance by The Raton 3, a psychedelic indie pop band from Raton, New Mexico. The crowd was treated to the incredible vocals of frontwoman Debora Iyall, formerly of Romeo Void, as she was backed by drummer Patrick Haight and guitarist Aron Johnson.
As darkness fell, the movie portion of the evening began. Everyone settled in with their blankets and snacks for a couple of surprise "Independence Day" movies, making for a perfect night under the stars. It was a memorable event that had a little bit of everything—great music, good company, and a double feature that hit the spot.

We want to extend a huge thank you to the LVSM Chamber of Commerce for the invitation. We had a wonderful time making connections, talking to residents of Las Vegas, and catching up with several former Ratonians who stopped by our booth. In total, we spoke to 101 people about everything exciting happening in Raton!
The event was a fantastic opportunity to build bridges within the New Mexico film community. We were thrilled to meet representatives from the Background Actors Association of New Mexico and connect with some of the talented cast and crew of “Ransom Canyon".
These kinds of collaborative events are crucial. Let's keep the momentum going and continue building strong connections between our two wonderful cities!
